The Regional Technical Manager is the technical backbone of one or several LBUs. He is responsible for the management of all technical matters that arise within his region and the positioning of ABB as Technology Leader. He is the single point of contact for technical questions and inquiries of other local service functions and the technical consultancy towards end customers.



-Report turbocharger issues by means of ATURB Failure Reporting module
-Investigate and resolve turbocharger issues aligned with responsible Technical Service Manager and in line with guidelines, including proposal for commercial settlement
-Support Technical Service Managers in the investigation and resolution of turbocharger issues as needed (go on site, interview crew, take pictures, send parts to Baden, etc.)
-Provide technical support to other local service functions of own territory and act as single point of contact and link to Global Technical Service
-Assist allocated End User Sales organization on technical questions and inquiries from customers and conduct technical customer seminars and trainings
-Consult end customers and local representatives of engine builders on system performance, optimal operation, maintenance and service of turbochargers, technical changes, upgrade possibilities and new technical offerings
-Support & co-ordinate ongoing upgrade projects, turbocharger modification programs and field tests in allocated countries. Responsible for completion of Technical ToDo’s in ATURB.
-Actively and regularly share knowhow, experience and best practices via Technical Service platforms with other RTMs to enhance the technical expertise throughout the Service Network
-Consolidate technical updates provided from the Global BU and present these to the local organization. Ensure technical information is distributed within own territory and understood by respective functions
-Ensure nomination of suitable Local Technigal Advisors, and train, coach and develop them (at least 1 face-to-face training per year)
-Implement Technical Service processes defined by the Global BU, documented by Circular Letters


-Education at least on bachelor level in marine or mechanical engineering
-> Solid practical working experience with turbochargers or reciprocating engines
-Good reputation / strong standing within region
-Experience with Service & B2B customer contact
-Advanced English level C1 (oral and written)
-Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
-Leadership & coaching skills
-Ability to establish solid customer relationships
-Self-driven, proactiveness, willingness to continuously learn and excel
-Structured way of working
-Availability to work and live in Rio de Janeiro

-Solid technical background about complete engine system
-Customer orientation and ability to handle critical & challenging customer situations
-Willingness to travel (up to 50%) to allocated countries (South America) regularly, multicultural and multilingual working environment
