Are you an analytical thinker who loves the challenges of running Analytics on Big Data? You will get the opportunity to work on a team that is critical to the future success of the Risk Solutions business. There are a variety of ongoing projects, but primary focus is on developing and supporting the products running in our Batch and real-time environments. Additionally, you will be trained in ECL* and KEL** and to create and enhance the queries that link customer provided data to the Lexis data we have stored in our HPCC***environment.

This position performs development of data applications on Big Data and Analytics technologies, performs technical research, data flow design, data validations, transformations (ETL), and loads for Analytics algorithms processing at data lakes on specific products and services. As well implementation of analytical models and attributes and gather results and deliver for the Analytic teams.

 


Experience     

Working experience in Software Engineering development·         

Bachelor Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science degree or related fields required

This is an opportunity to learn ECL* our open source software language that maximizes the rapid utilization of our massive databases. You will be trained to use ECL (Enterprise Control Language) -ECL is a programming language designed and used with the HPCC system. It is specifically designed for data management and query processing. ECL code is written using the ECL IDE programming development tool. ECL is a transparent and implicitly parallel programming language which is both powerful and flexible. It is optimized for data-intensive operations, declarative, non-procedural and data flow oriented. ECL uses intuitive syntax which is modular, reusable, extensible and highly productive. It combines data representation and algorithm implementation

Key Responsibilities:

Be an engaging data engineer developing on Big Data and Analytics technologies in line with our Agile and Lean methodology
Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into system automation designs and implementations.
Participate in process improvement to successfully and consistently deliver high-quality deliverables on time, and to specification. Enabling flexibility to react quickly to changes in priorities or circumstances to meet the needs of the business.
Write and review specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Execute Code Review on code developed by peers as part of the flow.
Successfully convert analytic programing code (Including but not limited to: SAS/WPS, R, Python) to language similar in structure to C++.
Consider quality and pro-active testing as part of day one of code development.
Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Resolve technical issues as necessary, take ownership of your code turf.
Keep abreast of new technology developments and bring ideas on introducing and developing new solutions which demonstrates value.
Analyzed data outputs and diffs for data profiling to learn and understand results
Perform data cleaning, internal and external data linking
Develop and execute on your personal development plan.
Ability to think through, communicate, implement and test data pre-processing and querying models.
Basic knowledge of software development Agile and Lean methodologies
Familiarity of industry best practices — quality, security, performance.
Exposure to project execution methodology and code control work flow is essential.
Experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++ and Java
Has relevant work done in SQL and XML
Experience of relational database system design (e.g. MySQL and SQL Server)
Some experience on developing Analytics capabilities
Good time management skills.
Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
Oral and written communications skills in English and Portuguese
 

Technical Skills Must Have Skills:

• Ability to think through, communicate, implement and test data pre-processing and querying models.

• Basic knowledge of software development Agile and Lean methodologies

• Familiarity of industry best practices — quality, security, performance.

• Exposure to project execution methodology and code control work flow is essential.

• Experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++ and Java

• Has relevant work done in SQL and XML

• Experience of relational database system design (e.g. MySQL and SQL Server)

• Some experience on developing Analytics capabilities

• Good time management skills.

• Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.

• Oral and written communications skills in English and Portuguese

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience working with GIT, AWS and ETL
Familiarity or have worked with Hadoop, Spark, Scala.
Fundamentals on Shell/Script UNIX
Knowledge of SAS/WPS and R
